Learning the cello
I highly value music education – music has granted me opportunities that I otherwise never would have experienced, and I welcome the chance to share this passion with others through teaching. I have taught cello privately for several years, and seeing my student’s excitement has served as a good reminder as to why I have chosen this profession. In my lessons, I try to preserve my student’s passion by engaging the student in the creative process, encouraging them to explore the instrument in ways that keep them invested in the process of learning. My goal as a teacher is to provide my students with a safe and supportive learning environment, tailoring my lessons to their individual needs and interests. I place a lot of emphasize on wellness when playing the instrument; from proper body alignment, to creating a healthy relationship with practicing. I also encourage creativity and experimentation; allowing students the opportunity to explore and develop their musicality. This past summer, I was fortunate enough to further my pedagogical knowledge by completing my Unit 1 Suzuki Cello Teacher Training at the Southwestern Ontario Suzuki Institute. This would not have been possible without the generous support of artsnb.
I have experience teaching students of all ages and abilities. If you are curious about the cello, please feel free to get in touch!
